Another private medical insurance (PMI) product specifically tailored for over-55s has been developed by Standard Life Healthcare. The product, entitled EspiritHealth, comes with special features which the insurer believes will make it easier for over-55s to switch providers for a better deal, or even take out PMI for the first time. Benefits offered by the plan include a no claims discount of up to 65%, home nursing if needed, and 24-hour GP advice line. However, in order to keep premiums low, it offers restricted out-patient cover and has excluded 'extras' such as pregnancy cover or alternative therapies.
