Long NHS waiting times in the past

In December 1997, it was announ-ced that waiting lists at NHS hospitals had become higher than ever. COVER revealed that the number of people waiting for treatment was growing by 1,000 a week with the total number standing at 1.2 million. Meanwhile, the term assurance market experienced its fair share of rate cuts with both Zurich Life and General Accident Life slashing their rates.
