'Fully functional' technology solution allows employees to engage with options all in one place
Risk solutions provider Aon has created an app for employees to access and manage all their benefits via a smartphone - the ‘first' of its kind, according to the firm.
The Aon App, which uses fingerprint or facial recognition technology, provides total reward statements through to full benefits enrolment to users regardless of location.
Employers can direct campaigns tailored to employees in a way that reflects the growing trend in the industry towards consumer-style engagement, while employees can interact with their offering, which includes third-party benefits such as personalised pension information.
Tailored to each client with customised content and available to download through the App Store and Google, the app can be used as an entry point into online benefits as it does not need another platform to function.
It also supports engagement campaigns plus includes push notifications for announcements such as a flexible benefits election window, wellness awareness weeks or total reward before a pay review promotions.
"The difference between the Aon App and anything else is that it is fully functional, meaning employees don't just access information, they can fully interact with their benefits too," said Jon Bryant, director, online and communications, at Aon.
"This is an increasingly vital part of an engagement campaign. Our workplaces are changing so rapidly plus we have light-speed changes in what we experience as consumers. The upshot is that employee expectations are growing - they want to access and interact with benefits just as they do if they're buying something from an online retailer," he added.
"In a world where one too many clicks are a barrier, employee benefits have to be as simple as possible to help employers engage employees in a far better way. This is a game-changer to help employers to instantly and relevantly communicate and interact with employees - no matter their location, age or digital experience."
