Online portal, Assureweb, has added a comparative quote service for individual income protection (IP) to its online proposition. The service will feature products from Norwich Union Healthcare, Friends Provident and Liverpool Victoria. Three more providers will be added to the portal before the end of the year.
The move marks the completion of Assureweb's comparative quotation services. Previously, individual quotations for IP were available, however, the new service enables users to compare individual IP products for the first time. Comparative quotations are already available for term assurance, critical illness and annuity products.
In a separate development, Assureweb has received the British Standard for best security practices for its services. The accreditation, BS7799, was awarded to the technology solutions provider for its security framework and monitoring and control of technical security. Its minimisation of business risk and fulfilment of corporate, customer and legal requirements was also recognised.
Commenting on the accreditation, Stephen Wynne-Jones, portal product manager at Assureweb, said: "It is vital that both the intermediary and client are confident that sensitive information, such as medical history or financial details, is subject to the most robust security systems and procedures available. With forthcoming regulatory changes, online security is imperative for advisers conducting business."
