Life insurer provides financial support to 9,499 individual lives last year

Scottish Widows paid 99.3% life claims and 94.1% critical illness claims during 2018 - 7,908 and 1,591 claims respectively. This was an increase on the 7,469 life claims (98.99%) and 1,769 paid for CI (93.06%) last year. More than £208m was paid out in total - an average of over £4m per week - in 2018. Life The total amount paid in life claims was just under £136m, with £10.9m paid in terminal illness claims. According to Scottish Widows, 52% of all claims for women were as a result of death from cancer, compared to 44% of men. Heart-related claims accounted for 22% of cases ...
