What do people value about protection insurance? It may be a basic question but a survey this week brought home the need for us to be creative in how we think about engaging our customers, writes Andrew Wibberley.

PR driven protection surveys can be repetitive and generally reach the unsurprising conclusion that more people should be insured. Searching elsewhere for more meaningful insights led me to a report by mobiles.co.uk on mobile phone use concluding: "Making calls isn't even in top 10 of favourite uses of our mobiles".  It seems checking the weather, banking and watching youtube videos are all more popular than making a phone call. This caused me to tweet (on my phone) and think (using my mindmeister app). Imagine a world where people said that making a claim wasn't in their top 10 us...
