FOS complaints against advisers continue to fall

Sesame most complained-about advice firm

Complaints against financial advisers fell 7% in the first six months of 2017, according to figures from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Sesame retained its spot as the most complained-about advice firm.

The FOS received 966 new complaints relating to advice firms between 1 January and 30 June 2017 - down from 1,044 in the second half of 2016. The latest figure was also down on the 1,189 complaints over the corresponding period in 2016. Despite continuing to top the FOS's adviser list, the 100 complaints Sesame received in the first half of this year are fewer than the 104 in the second half of 2016 and well down on the 160 complaints the business received in the same period last year.
