Aviva's previous CEO Mark Wilson stepped down from the role last year to allow for the group's "next phase of development". During the transition, non-executive chairman Sir Adrian Montague assumed executive responsibilities and led a chairman's committee of the three executive directors Andy Briggs, Thomas Stoddard and Tulloch himself. Montague reverts to his role as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.
