Private medical insurer Bupa has won the Plain English Campaign’s web award for online clarity for its website, bupa.co.uk.

The Plain English Campaign Media Awards celebrate simplicity in public information. Bupa.co.uk was praised for being written in clear, understandable language and for being easy to navigate.

Chrissie Maher, founder of the Plain English Campaign said the Bupa website came close to the Plain English Campaign's our own Internet Crystal Mark, indicating that a website meets its standards for clarity.

She said the judging panel were comfortable with Bupa's site and commented: "Getting older might make you wiser, but it doesn't make it any easier to understand a pile of jargon and gobbledygook. When I'm not firing on all cylinders, the last thing I need is more stress when I need help."
