COVER poll: ABI not to re-name TPD

the-big-question

The ABI has announced that it will not be re-naming Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) cover for critical illness contracts in its next Statement of Best Practice to be released next year.

It has, however, agreed industry-wide standard definitions for the condition and will be launching an education campaign with the aim of improving understanding of TPD and reducing the number of claims declined.

At present, although TPD accounts for just 3% of claims, 55% of these are declined because consumers do not have a clear understanding about when they can make a claim.

For this month's poll, COVER is asking:
What do you think of the ABI's decision to not rename TPD but to agree industry-wide definitions and launch an education campaign?
