Unadvised international PMI web site to launch

A non advised web site aimed at selling into the international Private medical Insurance (PMI) market is soon to be launched.

The site www.expatcompare.com, which is currently live but under development, will allow the public to access four providers' product literature and quotes directly.

William Russell, Expatriate Healthcare, Aetna and Healthcare International's applications and claim forms are available for download through the site.

The site will also shortly carry international life, critical illness, income protection and travel insurance products.

Adrian Shaw, principal of Amman, Jordan, based Expatcompare, commented: This site has been two years in the planning and was set up due frustration over advisers not fully understanding the expatriate market's potential. This is a £3bn per annum market we are ignoring.

"It is of course better to sell these products through advised sales, but this is just not being done, and customers are starting to insist they have access to these products themselves."

However Expatcompare is in talks with several brokers over a partnership which would offer advice to those who request it through the site. Shaw added: "We are also willing to talk to other advisers who may be interested."
