A series of enhancements have been made to the Vitality wellness programme offered by both PruHealth and PruProtect.

• Members can get 50% off bicycles purchased online and in store through Evans Cycles. Bronze members can get 50% off bicycles costing up to £500, increasing to 50% off bicycles costing up to £1000 for Platinum members. This is available to individual members with Vitality Plus and to all corporate and SME employees.

• The discount on sports shoes from Sweatshop has increased from 25% to 50%

• Members can now take part in free weekly, timed 5km runs around the country through Parkrun and earn Vitality points.

• An extended range of Fitbug devices are now available to choose from to record walking and other activity - previously only one Fitbug device was available to record and earn Vitality points.

• PruHealth and PruProtect are reducing the number of daily steps that need to be undertaken before Vitality points are awarded. Customers now only need to do 5,000 steps a day before they can start earning Vitality points, down from the previous minimum of 10,000 daily steps.

• Members can now get a free visit each week at Cineworld and Vue cinemas.

• Monthly cash rebates of up to £15.00 a month are now available on a wide range of 24 month contracts for individuals and SME's (up to £150 a year for corporate members), offered through buymobilephones.net.

• The Vitality Champneys offer has increased from 50% off to 75% off day visits and one, two or three night stays and has also been extended to include 25% off all products.

Neville Koopowitz, chief executive at PruHealth: "Vitality is more important than ever in our product mix, providing immediate value for money, even if customers don't claim.

"Many solutions of PMI products with wellness bolt-ons do not improve the economics of the healthcare market because they do not incentivise behaviour change and improve health. Vitality is scientifically proven to induce real, sustainable behaviour change."
