L&G: Relevant life plan sales up by a fifth

Legal & General recorded a 21% increase in the uptake of its Relevant Life Plan (RLP) product over the course of 2016, according to figures released by the insurer.

It also nearly doubled the number of live policyholders who applied for RLP online. The figures also follow Legal & General's recent update showing a record 9,324 advisers attended its Specialist Protection training seminars across the country in 2016. The average age of a customer taking out an RLP with Legal & General was 45, with policyholders ranging from 18 to 73 years old. Whilst the number of women taking out RLPs with Legal & General increased on 2015's statistics, 70% of the insurer's RLP customers were men.
