Product provider Aviva is set to cut a further 120 jobs as it continues to target cost savings of £400m.

The affected staff are based at its Sheffield-based claims management business, Asprea, according to the Financial Times.

Aviva is planning to integrate the branch with similar centres in Perth and Southend by the end of next year.

This 120 is in addition to 800 job cuts announced in August. Both sets of cuts will contribute to a £400m cost-cutting exercise also announced in August.

Most of the £400m worth of savings across its global operations will be 'job-related', according the company.

Aviva is seeking to make its operations more efficient in the face of limited growth prospects across the UK general insurance sector.
