Ageas Protect to launch WOL with long-term care

Ageas Protect has said it will launch a whole of life policy with a long-term care component in 2015.

The company's new offering will be a whole of life product with the first phase offering an inheritance tax component followed by a package including a care option.

Ageas Protect is the latest insurer to add long-term care and IHT planning to a life policy.

Last month VitalityLife launched LifestyleCare Cover - a life insurance policy designed to meets the needs of people who have ill health in later life. The product allows a selected proportion of life cover to be accessed early (up to 100%) in the event the policyholder has care needs - this is assessed using activities of daily living.

Zurich has also revealed it will be launching a whole of life plan with long-term care protection during 2015.

Ageas Protect also told COVER it will be rebranded as AIG following its sale to AIG earlier this year.

The company's tie up with AIG has yet to be completely finalised as the companies wait for final clearance from the PRA.

Ageas Protect also said other new products will be forthcoming as the company looks to offer a full range of protection products as part of AIG's move to have a strong presence in all global life insurance markets.

There will also be growth in the company's direct to consumers offering as part of the expansion, offered via aggregators and platforms.

Steve Casey, head of marketing & propositions at Ageas Protect said: "As part of our continued proposition development we are looking to introduce a Whole of Life policy to complete our product portfolio.

"Given the increasing emphasis on the ageing population and how long-term care costs will be funded in the future it makes sense to look at including an option such as this in a product design."
