Friends Life has simplified its Group Life claims process by removing the need to have sight of the original death certificate to verify Group Life claims.

Deaths will now be verified instantly by Friends Life through the Government Records Office. The new facility will ensure claims are paid as quickly as possible with no requirement for families to provide any paperwork.

David Williams, Director of Group Protection at Friends Life comments: "Submitting a claim on a Life protection product it is a difficult time for anybody but by introducing this service we hope to be able to make the process slightly easier.

"We hope to be able to verify the majority of Group Life Claims without requiring the original death certificate ensuring claims are paid as quickly as possible with no requirement for the grieving family to provide any paperwork to us."

The new online tool allows claims to be processed without a death certificate if the death has occurred in the UK and the claim is for under £500,000. This is now available to all Friends Life's Group Life customers.
