Mother and son charged after allegedly faking death to claim life insurance

A mother and her son have been charged today with fraud after they allegedly conspired to fake the mother's death in Zanzibar to claim £140,000 worth of life insurance.

  Arafa Nassib, aged 45 of Lower Rushall Lane, Walsall and Adil Kasim, aged 18 of Lower Rushall Lane, Walsall, were charged today at Perry Barr Police Station, Birmingham. They will appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 3 May 2017. The insurer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, referred the case to the City of London Police's Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) in late 2016.
