The House of Lords has appointed a new special public bill committee on the Insurance Bill.
The committee has published a Call for Evidence asking for views on the Bill to be submitted by 27 November.
The Bill is to reform laws governing insurance contracts and cover three main areas of insurance contracts, disclosure, warranties and fraud.
The committee has 28 days to take oral and written evidence on the issues raised, before amending the Bill if it wishes.
Report Stage and Third Reading then follow as usual in the Chamber of the House of Lords.
The committee is inviting written evidence on the provisions contained in the Bill and any other matter that could be considered relevant to it.
Lord Woolf, chairman of the committee, said: "The Insurance Bill will make significant changes to the law governing insurance so it is important that we get the details right. Our Committee will consider all the evidence we receive and look at the Bill in great detail to ensure it is going to achieve what is intended.
"We are inviting evidence from anyone with an interest in the Bill. We are working to a tight deadline and have to complete our evidence-taking within 28 days. We are asking therefore that written evidence is sent to us by 27 November."
