Canada Life renews RedArc contract

Canada Life Group insurance will continue to provide the RedArc Personal Nurse Adviser service for all its group critical illness claimants.

The service was introduced in 2011 and has been used by almost 100% of Canada Life's critical illness claimants so far this year.

Canada Life has also contracted RedArc to provide a Treatment Sourcing Service from Medical Care Direct (MCD).

Both MCD and RedArc are part of the PHP Group, and the contract will run until October 2016.

Treatment sourcing allows employers or individuals to find locations and competitive costs for privately funded medical treatment, and is available to all Canada Life's income protection and group critical illness policyholders.

The service is available to all employees whether or not they are insured and their immediate family.

Paul Avis, marketing director of Canada Life Group Insurance, said: "As well as providing a financial benefit, we believe that we have a responsibility to support employees, both pre- and post-claim. Re-contracting with a great service provider, like RedArc, on our group critical illness product is tangible evidence of this -especially when aligned with the clinical certainty offered through our partnership with Best Doctors."

He added:"Augmenting this with the MCD Treatment Sourcing Service further emphasises our focus on support for the employer, employee and their family members - support beyond the pure financial benefits that group risk insurers provide. For employers, it could be very beneficial to use this alongside the new ‘Fit for Work' service.

"Our coverage of non-insured, as well as insured, employees for MCD enables smaller employers particularly to gain benefits from the insurance policies they have purchased from us whether or not they make a claim."

Jan Lawson, group managing director of PHP, said: "The services of RedArc are already well embedded within the Canada Life Group insurance proposition for people who suffer a serious illness. The additional service offered by MCD will mean that our overall service package is even more relevant to their scheme members, keeping Canada Life at the forefront of product development in their market."
