F&TRC unveils Mortgage Protection comparison tool

F&TRC has added Mortgage Protection for Life and Critical Illness Cover to its Quality Analyser for Protection comparison service.

The Quality Analyser for Protection, launched in June, is a free service for advisers to compare standard Life, Critical Illness and Income Protection based on client needs. The Mortgage Protection comparison tool is the latest upgrade to this new service.

The Mortgage Protection comparison tool covers over 35 different elements of a protection product, including interest rate decreases, single and joint life, a Mortgage Protection calculator, integration with mortgage systems, access to cover during underwriting, legal helplines and support services, Guaranteed Insurability and Plan Options (including whether the client can increase the sum assured if their mortgage or loan increases).

This allows the adviser to prioritise and weight different features and then create a detailed analysis of the relevant product and client facing reports.

Ian McKenna, managing director of F&TRC, said: "The mortgage market has bounced back in the last five years and so there is a great opportunity for protection sales to be made on the back of mortgage sales.

"We are delighted to be able to make software that can compare Mortgage Protection products available free of charge to advisers who are members of the Personal Finance Society, Society of Mortgage Professionals and Chartered Insurance Institute."

Michael Aldridge, sales director at London & Country Mortgages, said: "Adding Mortgage Protection will only enhance the growing level of encyclopaedic detail that the Quality Analyser offers. The more products, and the more in-depth the comparisons, the better it is for the adviser. Information is king when it comes to giving good advice and a tool that assists this process is invaluable."
