Bupa health insurance has offered its insured members the option of undergoing cataract surgery at Optical Express centres in the UK.
Corrective laser eye surgery will also be included for those who seek surgery at an Optical Express centre.
Dr Natalie-Jane Macdonald, managing director of Bupa Health and Wellbeing, said: "We know that our customers want convenient, high quality, good value eye care, and our new relationship with Optical Express ensures that our members have greater choice and easier access to the treatment and care they need."
If cataract surgery is needed they will be able to see a Bupa-recognised ophthalmologist at one of five surgery centres in city locations.
According to Bupa, cataract surgery is one of the most common procedures in the UK with around 350,000 operations performed each year.
More than half in the UK aged 65 and over have some cataract development in one or both eyes.
Bupa members can arrange a consultation with one of 14,000 specialists in the Bupa network, to discuss cataract surgery without needing to see their GP first.
