PMI
AXA PPP healthcare has announced that it is now offering a discount to customers who want to keep fit. The private medical insurance (PMI) provider revealed it will give a 10% discount to all policyholders who are members of health club LA Fitness.
Existing customers who are not currently members of the gym could also benefit from the scheme, as the provider will offer a discount on insurance if they join the gym. The new design may also be extended to include other health clubs if it becomes successful.
Victoria Georgalakis-Hardy, head of strategic marketing at AXA PPP healthcare, said the firm wanted to "reward people who look after their own fitness levels."
AXA PPP healthcare's move follows in the footsteps of Prudential's launch of its health arm, PruHealth, last year, which rewards policyholders with lower premiums if they look after their health.
However, Georgalakis-Hardy pointed out that the two offerings are somewhat different. "What we are doing is offering a discount to all customers who are members of LA Fitness regardless of whether they use it or not. PruHealth's product, on the other hand, is more complex and uses a point system, which for example, rewards members for the number of gym visits they make," she said.
